The monument was inaugurated by His
Majesty the king Gyanendra Bir
Bikram Shah Dev at the APF
Headquarters premises on 18 December
2003, inaugural designed under the
astrological and tantrik principles.
The main characteristics of the
monument are as follows
1. The tantrik sign symbolizes goddess Bagalamukhi 2. The three pillars of the monument represent the motto of the Armed Police Force i.e. “Peace, Security, Commitment” 3. The three Nepalese traditional swords (KHUNDA) symbolize the court of Arms of the Armed Police Force. The crown at the top symbolizes the emblem of national unity. ”
In Nepal, there is a tradition of creating an Armed Force under the guardianship of a deity. The Armed Police Force is fortunate to be blessed with the Nishan (colour) of the goddess BAGALAMUKHI BHAGAWATI. This colour was bestowed to the Armed Police Force on the auspicious occasion of PHULPATI (23 October 2001) at Royal Nepalese Army Pavilion, Tundikhel
